The increased presence of transactional data tracking on the internet opens up a number of possibilities for businesses — from hotel accommodations to pregnancy cycles, data science can be used to predict nearly everything.  According to MailChimp’s John Foreman, these applications provide better, more customized experiences, but also the potential for fear. He’ll explore the positive effects — and potential consequences — of targeted analytics, data science, and big data. In Data Smart: Using Data Science to Transform Information into Insight, he offers a comprehensive guide to spreadsheets, algorithms, data mining, and other cutting edge analytics used by big companies like Facebook, offering accessible, concrete tools for anyone “wanting to turn raw data into action.” Foreman is the Chief Data Scientist at and the mind behindAnalytics Made Skeezy — a blog using meth addicts, frat houses, and other “skeezy” topics to make data relatable.
