Join some of our area's leading ecologists and local wildfire resource groups for an in-depth lecture series exploring the past, present and future of wildfire on the eastern slope of the Cascades. Under the expertise of guest scientist speakers, we will dig into the unique and complex relationships that govern the ecology of wildfire. Topics to be covered include historical and contemporary wildfire patterns, fire's influence on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, the impacts of climate change, and current management strategies for restoring ecosystem resilience. Be a part of this amazing opportunity to better understand the science of 'Living with Wildfires!'

  • Workshops are being presented in partnership with Milepost 111 Brewing Company in Cashmere. Tickets are $25 for a single lecture and appetizers. Wenatchee River Institute members save 20% off registration. Dinner will also be available for purchase from a selected signature Milepost 111 menu. The final lecture on March 8th is open to all participants at no additonal fee, and designed to give participants the opportunity to meet with local organizations and learn how to put knowledge into action.

  • Tuesday, March 1st (Register by February 25) Forest Restoration Strategy Presented by: Richy Harrod, USFS Deputy Fire Management Officer
  • Tuesday March 8th (FREE for all participants) Get involved! Presented by: Cascadia Conservation District, Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition, WIldfires & Us, and others!
  • Ages: 16+ Materials to Bring: A desire to learn! Pen and paper for note taking. Clock Hours: 10 Course Fee: $20.00 members/$25.00 non-members for single lecture + appetizers
