E3 Washington is on the way to making environmental and sustainability education the norm in Washington. The E3 process is resulting in:
(1) 18 linked regional leadership networks and summits
(2) 18 regional plans with recommendations for the state E3 plan
(3) Cross-sector and cross-regional partnerships, strategies and initiatives for the newly developing system of sustainability in Washington.
A series of “core sector strategies” are informing both the regional and state plans. Eleven core sectors include preK-12 and teacher education, tribal education, higher education, media/communications, and community-based education.
At the January 28h summit, state agency sector representatives will learn about E3 progress to date, assess the role of environmental education in meeting the missions of agencies and provide input to the core sector strategies describe above.
