9:45 am Spokane Salish Culture Day Welcome by Josh Flett, Spokane Tribal Member and lead teacher at the Back to the Heart Immersion school. Color Guard by the Wellpinit High School JROTC posting the Colors. Bob Brisbois, Spokane Tribal Member/Elder and Culture teacher at the Wellpinit 7th grade drum group Chewelah Mayor Knauss Smudging-Pat Moses, Spokane Tribal Member, Elder & Teacher Opening Remarks-Monica Tonasket, Spokane Tribal Member & Administrative Director Council Members
10:15am 1st Location located in your welcome packet. (Handed out by Ambassadors.) Site A: PACA building with Preservation, Bobbi Hubert (Educators will be with Ms. Flett & Ms Bruce Resources will be passed out.) 25 min Site B: Museum display with Glen Hafer & Norm LeBret Presentations
LUNCH at 11:30 after you finish the 2nd Site visit in the ball park just north of the museum. Pick up your meals at the PACA Building. Site C: Beside the Museum with Fish Trap Display and native foods with Marsha Wynecoop, Spokane Tribal Member and Program Manager for the Tribe’s Language program. Site D: Indian Agency Building-History of the region and importance of waterways for Native People with Jack Nesbit & Geno Ludwig. Site E: Warren Seyler-“What use to be here?”. Where did Spokane people camp, fish, live, etc.
1:15pm Play and/or Regalia Showcase
1:45pm Spokane Tribal Happy Dance & Closing Ceremony at Chewelah Park-Pat Moses This day was inspired by the late Don “Mac” McLaughlin and carried forward by Chewelah PACA.
