As you begin the process in your region,

Please consult the Regional Planning Packet

, and keep the following in mind:

  • An E3 Regional Plan is the key deliverable requested of each region.
Please become familiar with the plan template in this packet and let EEAW know if you have any questions. Our goal is to have regional plans completed by March 2008 so that we may incorporate regional input in state E3 plan priorities by March 2008 (see Plan Template)

  • It's time to organize a diverse group of leaders to develop a Regional Plan. We ask that you be as inclusive as possible at every step of the process and consider this rare opportunity to involve representatives of key constituencies including teachers and administrators, nonformal educators, members of higher ed, tribal representatives, business and civic leaders, elected officials and others. It is recommended that your region organize into a Steering Committee and an Advisory Council as you move forward through this planning process. (see Leadership Roles).
  • How you arrive at a completed plan template is up to your steering committee. First and foremost, we hope that E3 directly addresses your organizational interests and the needs and goals of your community. Through organizing a Regional Leadership Summit you will be able to receive input from your region's diverse interests and then incorporate it into a Regional Plan. A structure, now tested through three separate events, has been tested and formalized as effective, instrumental and aspirational towards developing a plan. Hosting a Regional Leadership Summit, or some alternative to it, will become the input into your Regional Plan. (see Overview of Planning Process, and Organizer Checklist)

  • We have developed boiler-plate processes and tools for your convenience. To help you complete the plan template, you will find a recommended process, event module, and a wealth of tools and examples including budgets, participant lists, agendas, session descriptions, media kits, standardized invitations and thank you cards, and much more in our E3 Washington Regional Toolkit.
  • Important Dates: We have established a timeline that is well on track. On September 22, 2006, we held the statewide kick off event that attracted leaders from around the state. On June 1, 2007, we held a Leadership Gear-Up that jump started our regional organizing campaign.  This coming November 8-10, 2007, we will be hosting the EEAW Annual Conference in SeaTac. Then, immerse yourself in sessions, workshops, keynotes and field trips that model the E3 approach and inspire possibilities.
  • Please don’t hesitate to contact EEAW if your region will require funds to offset the expenses related to this initiative. EEAW will supply some funding and will also provide you with tools and technical assistance to raise funds locally for regional planning and plan implementation.
  • You are among friends! EEAW Staff, E3 Washington partners and your peers in other regions are here for you. We have a big job ahead of us, one that is possible through shared inspiration, tools and ideas. (see Regional Leader Network)
