Youth Forums for the Columbia River

The North American Youth Parliament for Water (NAYPW) is hosting multiple, synchronized Youth Forums for the Columbia River on Saturday February 11, 2023 from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm (including time for breaks).

This is a novel civic engagement opportunity for young people (age 16-35) with a stake in the future of the Columbia River Basin to combine their voices for the future of the basin.

To help answer some questions we've frequently gotten about this event, check out this Informative Webinar available on YouTube.

Busy on Saturday, 11 February? You can still help the Youth Forums effort!
There's still time to register to participate in-person (until 31 January midnight PST) or virtually (until 6 February midnight PST)! Even if you don't have the time to participate for the full day, you can join for some of the day's discussions!

You can also contribute to this effort by sharing information about the Columbia Youth Forums with your friends, colleagues, and young/early-career networks in the basin so that they know about this opportunity too! Please send this email to students and young professionals in the basin so they know about this opportunity. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be an expert to join this opportunity to share your perspective and hopes for the future of your community in the Columbia River Basin!

These forums will provide the opportunity for youth and young/early-career professionals who have a stake in the future of the Columbia River Basin. The forum will collect, organize, and empower youth and young professionals as water stakeholders during the current renegotiation period of the Columbia River Treaty. NAYPW will publicize the results of the forums as a report describing youths' and young/early-career professionals' concerns, visions, and action commitments for the basin. These outcomes will be directly related and added to the Global Youth Movement for Water Action Agenda and the UN 2030 Water Action Agenda registry for progress on SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The format of the forums will be either hybrid (virtual and in-person) or virtual-only, depending on the communities' and participants' needs. Be sure to indicate which format best suits your needs in the form below. We will also need basic location information to help connect participants with each other for local forum discussions.
