As part of the Future Leaders of Whatcom Waters (FLOW) Program the Environmental Education Internship provides real-world experiences and professional development opportunities for future leaders of environmental and educational fields.

This experience is provided through opportunities to independently and collaboratively lead Students for Salmon (SFS) Field Trips. This program relies on Environmental Education Interns to function. On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, the SFS program requires 3-6 interns to lead interactive and educational components of field trips at locations throughout Whatcom County. In the spring, interns will also support students releasing salmon fry they have raised in their school aquarium.

Urban Program Educator

Program Coordinator

This position coordinates education programs at the Environmental Learning Center. Program Coordinators provide leadership for Institute programs, supervise Program Instructors at the Learning Center, and offer instructional support as necessary. This position will coordinate the logistics and delivery of the Mountain School program during the school year, and Family Getaways during the summer. They may also support other Learning Center programs from time to time. A successful candidate may hail from a variety of professional backgrounds but loves teaching, being outdoors, and is inspired to work with children.

Guest Services Coordinator

This role reports to the Operations Director and requires collaboration with staff to maintain high service standards for guests and program participants. The GSC will manage a portion of the operations budget and execute daily tasks independently.

Instructors at Nature-Based Day Camp

Organization: Camp Wa-Ya

Camp Wa-Ya, a nature-based program in Olympia, Washington, is hiring Day Camp Instructors. We also offer an Indigenous Fellowship for a person connected to the Indigenous community to develop leadership and outdoor instructor skills. Summer staff are needed from June 15th until August 29th and work 40 hours/week Monday-Friday. Our programs take place throughout Western Washington and intertwine outdoor adventure, science education, and Indigenous knowledge with a love of local South Sound landscapes.
