EPA Announces Social Media Water Contest 

We are pleased to share with you a social media competition open to people ages 13 to 24.  Applicants can submit videos, art, photographs, vision boards, essays, poems, and more. Please creatively share why water is important in your community or describe why you would consider a career in the water workforce. The top three winners will receive a $100 gift card! 2024 Ocean Awareness Contest Tell Your Climate Story

Submissions are OPEN for the 13th annual Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest – Tell Your Climate Story. The 2024 Contest encourages students to become climate witnesses and creatively share their personal experiences about our changing climate reality.  

Submit works of visual art, creative writing, poetry, spoken word, music, dance, film, and more for a chance to win cash awards of up to $1,000 and to join the world’s largest environmental youth community for the creative arts! The Contest is free to enter and open to students worldwide, ages 11-18. Submit by June 10, 2024. Learn more and enter here.

Paid Outdoor Summer Internships

Join the summer 2024 Youth Conservation Corps Cohort! The King County Parks Youth Conservation Corps are looking for high schoolers interested in learning about parks and environmental careers. The YCC aims to build pathways for a new generation of park and environmental leaders through a paid 6-week summer internship program.

The 2024 program dates are Monday, July 8 - Thursday, August 15 every Monday-Thursday. Each week interns work 22 hours and meet daily on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Thurnau Park in White Center. On Thursday interns meet via zoom from their personal computer. Interns are expected to attend the entire program. More information and a link to the application can be found at www.kcpyouthcorps.org. Applications are due by April 21, 2024. The website includes helpful tips for the application.

Calling Student Artists

The Washington Invasive Species Council and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are calling student artists to design posters to educate people about invasive species.

The winning poster will be displayed for one year at all the boating check stations and in an educational trailer that travels to schools, libraries, and events, helping educate people about invasive species that threaten Washington’s natural resources.

Kids from kindergarten through high school age can enter. Not only will they win the prestige of having their artwork reproduced, but they receive an Amazon gift card!

Don’t dawdle, entries must be in by May 31. Full contest rules and entry form.

EE 30 Under 30 Class of 2024 Call for Nominations!

Help us recognize the incredible work of young people around the world by nominating yourself or someone you know for this global cohort of inspiring young leaders in environmental education! We want to hear from changemakers in any position, from community organizers to teachers to artists! The EE 30 Under 30 Class of 2024 will receive global recognition, join a growing community of inspiring EE leaders, and receive ongoing opportunities for professional development and networking.

2023 CEC Youth Engagement Week (YEW)

Are you between 18 and 35 years old and interested in environmental matters? If so, apply by October 16th for the first CEC Youth Engagement Week (YEW), taking place November 14 -16, 2023, in person, in Montreal, Canada, and help address climate and environmental emergencies by reshaping youth engagement in North American environmental cooperation.

During this event, nine people aged 18-35 from Canada, Mexico, and the United States (3 per country), will be invited to travel to Montreal, Canada, to learn about the CEC Secretariat’s work. The selected participants will also engage in collaborative spaces with some of CEC’s collaborators, providing them with unique networking opportunities. They will also participate in working sessions and discussions on enhancing youth engagement at the CEC.

Through AmeriCorps, our WCC program provides hands-on experience, field skills, and training opportunities to young adults between 18 and 25 and military veterans. We work in partnership with nonprofit and governmental organizations that apply for WCC crews or individual placement members to complete projects.
