Assistant Professor in Environmental Education (WWU)

9-month tenure track position in environmental education (EE) undergraduate and M.Ed. programs at Huxley College of the environment, Western Washington University. The position includes teaching, scholarship, outreach and service, student advisement and program development in the EE programs.

9-month tenure track position in environmental education (EE) undergraduate and M.Ed. programs at Huxley College of the environment, Western Washington University. The position includes teaching, scholarship, outreach and service, student advisement and program development in the EE programs.  A doctorate in Education, Interpretation, Communication or related field with an emphasis on environment or sustainability is required, as are experience working working with communities that are historically marginalized or underrepresented in the field of environmental education, experience as an educator in a variety of settings, experience preparing future educators, experience in delivering innovative, student-centered, place-based, experiential curricula in partnership with community partners, a strong commitment to effective teaching and learning in undergraduate education, and a record of high quality scholarship which may include applied or engaged forms.  Preferred qualification include a range of possible strengths including work in interpretation settings, curriculum/evaluation experience, humanities or arts perspectives, ecological science approaches, natural / cultural history, backcountry leadership, and / or experience with urban youth and communities.
